How Can severe Headache Along With Depression Be Treated?

I smoked very little until my retirement and this has increased since. I smoke 6-7 cigarette per day at this time but now I have serous headaches when I do. I suspect Arterial Spasms! Is this a valid assumption? I have had problems with chronic depression and my doc says i should not try Clondix What is available to break the habit? I have tried cold Turkey but not conquer the habit. Thanks,

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be a vascular headache. We have to rule out other possibilities also.

If symptoms persist, better to consult a neurologist and plan for an MRI brain to rule out possible intracranial (inside the brain) causes.

As of now you can take analgesics like tramadol for pain relief.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
